This past week the Grace Hopper Celebration 2019, the world’s largest gathering of women in technology, took place in Orlando. The Grace Hopper Celebration is annually organized by AnitaB.org in partnership with the Association for Computing Machinery. The objective is to “bring the research and career interests of women in computing to the forefront.”
IDEAS Trainees Eve Chase, JaCoya Thompson, Dawning Liu, Vivian Tang and Suman Bhandari were all in attendance. Students had the opportunity to go to a variety of talks and participate in activities focusing on a variety of STEM topics, such as open source software, data science, artificial intelligence, software engineering, computer systems engineering, hardware, security, privacy, interactive media, emerging technology and more.
IDEAS program director and a co-investigator Michelle Paulsen and IDEAS co-invesigator and professor Lois Trautvetter also attended this year’s celebration.
